Kaleidoscope was originally set up as a photographic studio and processing laboratory. We were then known as a 'wet lab' when chemicals were used to process negatives and slide film. Digital photography and inkjet printing didn't arrive until a few years later. In the early days Simon Eade, one of the two current Directors would be out on a photo shoot or busy in the large photographic studio. Simon now concentrates on running the fine art reproduction department.
In 2001 Darren Allsop joined the company. Darren has worked in the photographic printing industry all his working life. He started out as an apprentice sign tray maker and moved on to working for a photographic lab running the mounting and finishing department. By the time he joined Kaleidoscope he was already an experienced inkjet print operator too. With many skills under his belt along with an ongoing passion for the industry, Darren is always keen to help source new materials and talk through ideas to help our clients achieve what they want.
2003 was the year we became a Limited company. Much has changed both inside and out. Our Studio is now set up for scanning original artworks – this is where Simon’s expertise is used at its best. Having reduced the laboratory side of the business and eventually submitting completely to the digital world we are now 100% digital. Now offering large wide-format printing and exhibition graphics where Darren’s years of experience and knowledge is used daily.
Although Simon joined Kaleidoscope in 1981 and Darren in 2001 it wasn’t until 2014 that they took joint ownership after both Tony Morgan and Andy Beete retired from the business. We may be a slightly smaller team but remain an enthusiastic hard working one.
Kaleidoscope Imaging is always keen to keep things moving onwards and upwards! Always investing in new technology - we are always looking to offer our clients excellent quality and of course at competitive prices. We are pleased to have so many loyal clients who have stayed with us over the years and we hope to continue to offer quality and an excellent service to all.
